For our head office in Hamburg/Germany, we are currently looking for an open-minded Junior Consultant (m/f/d) in our FWC Unit, who will contribute towards achieving the FWC Unit's objectives.

Job description

As a (Junior) Consultant, you will work under guidance of the FWC Unit's Senior Consultant and the FWC Unit Manager. You will work in a very pro-active, dynamic, multi-national and multi-lingual team of colleagues. As Junior Consultant, you will work with increasing responsibility in the areas of proposal development and project management

Your duty station will be Hamburg, with some travels to developing countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Working on the acquisition process of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical and financial proposals 
  • Identification of suitable experts in GFA´s database and the worldwide web in close cooperation with the responsible Consultant and the staff members of the Recruitment department; 
  • Technical review of studies and reports;
  • Establishing and maintaining regular professional contacts and networking with clients, partners and sector experts;
  • Participating in short-term consultancy missions;
  • Support to project management / backstopping;
  • Editing and proof reading of proposal, reports and presentations as well as contributing to knowledge and quality management, including GFA publications; 

Qualifications and requirements

  • University degree (Master) in economics, business administration, Development Studies, Social Science or similar;
  • Preferably 2 years or more of relevant experience in project acquisition and/or implementation the context of development cooperation, preferably with EU / Framework Contracts;
  • Full proficiency in written and spoken English and French, working knowledge of German and Spanish is of advantage;
  • First experience with EU, DFID, SDC, EIB, GIZ and a basic understanding of the strategies and programs would be an asset;
  • Strong writing, communication and presentation skills; 
  • Advanced proficiency in standard MS Office applications;
  • Willingness to travel abroad;
  • Intercultural competence.
