Director of Finance and Operations (Directeur Administratif et Financier)

Position Summary


As Director of Finance and Operations you will lead our French subsidiary together with our Sales Director and Technical Director. Within your position you will have the primary responsibility of ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the branch’s financial and operational functions.

You will lead, oversee and manage all key financial areas, including, but not limited to financial planning & budgeting, accounting, controlling, reporting, payroll, legal, tax, supplier negotiations and optimizing existing set-ups and streamlining finance related processes. You are characterized by a hands-on mentality and, if necessary, you get involved yourself and take on tasks actively. In this role you are responsible to build and continuously develop a strong and capable finance function that effectively meets the current and future needs of the organization. 
In addition to the above-mentioned financial topics, you will also oversee the branch’s operations in administrations, logistics, quality and human resources. With the aim to ensure smooth operations of these departments and to optimize processes to support our sales and service teams.

You will analyze and evaluate existing business, create financial transparency and thereby shape and impact future decision-making. Within your position you will be in regular contact with our headquarters in Hamburg/Germany and report directly to the Executive Board, in particular the CEO Sales & Marketing.

Your responsibilities

Finance
  • Planning, controlling and monitoring of all financial data and figures
  • Ensuring a correct and regular financial accounting and reporting system
  • Manage financial activities and accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll, audit preparation and cash flow monitoring
  • Responsible for a timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and financial statements as well as annual budgeting with regular forecasts
  • Reviewing/preparing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, journal entries, and other documents to ensure compliance 
  • Performing of annual financial closures
  • Travel expense control
  • Optimizing of the consisting reporting-system in collaboration with our group-controlling
  • Preparing requests related to tax compliances and tax provision support
  • Responsible for general corporate duties: carpool management, contract review and supplier management as well as local compliances as needed
Operations
  • You identify and realize opportunities to continually and qualitatively create, optimize or further develop operational and administrative processes and thus ensure operational excellence
  • Definition and implementation of KPI’s for technical services in order to maximize its productivity and efficiency to meet or exceed targets
  • Manage and oversee the administration, logistics and quality department
  • Management of all HR matters like recruitment, onboarding, development and handling employee relations
  • Revise and/or formulate internal policies and ensure compliance

Your qualifications:

  • You have a master’s degree with a major in finance, controlling or accounting, or an equivalent level of qualification
  • > 5 years of comprehensive work experience and relevant knowledge in the field of finance, with a focus on finance, controlling, accounting or auditing
  • >5 years of profound management experience of teams
  • Profound "hands on" experience in accounting and controlling
  • Very good communication skills, able to communicate both verbally and in writing, at an excellent level in French and English, German is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Experience of working within an international organization
  • Sharp analytical mindset and strong conceptual skills
  • A high sense of responsibility and a solution oriented and process improvement mindset
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to direct and manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines
  • A high customer orientation and a good service mentality
