A French family recently relocated near Düsseldorf is seeking a reliable and experienced Housekeeper to support the smooth running of their household. The role is designed to reduce the family's daily workload and to provide a calm, well-organised home environment. The household consists of two adults, two children, and three cats, in a 400 sqm private home. The family is structured, organised, and values discretion, trust, and consistency.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Home Care

  • Full upkeep and cleaning of the residence to a high standard.
  • Daily organisation of living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen.
  • Careful handling of furniture and household items.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented home at all times.

 Laundry & Textiles

  • Washing, ironing, folding, and organising laundry.
  • Knowledge of delicate fabrics such as cashmere and wool.
  • Maintaining wardrobe organisation and proper linen care.

 Kitchen & Meals

  • Preparation of simple, healthy, and balanced meals.
  • Preparing children’s dinner between 17:45 and 18:20.
  • Anticipating meals for the following day (lunch).
  • Cleaning and organisation of the kitchen (dishes, surfaces, appliances).

 Household Organisation

  • Managing household supplies and maintaining shopping lists.
  • Grocery shopping (driving required).
  • Following established routines and instructions.
  • Coordinating smoothly with the family’s daily schedule.

 Pets

  • Comfortable working in a household with cats.
  • Daily care related to cats, including litter trays and cleanliness of pet areas.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in private households.
  • Organised, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to follow instructions and respect established household routines.
  • Discreet and respectful of the family’s privacy.
  • Comfortable working around pets (cats essential).
  • Valid driving licence required.
  • Languages: French and/or English.
  • Trustworthy with a strong sense of responsibility.

 Role EvolutionOver time, the role may evolve to include occasional support with the children, depending on trust and household needs.

  • Working hours: Approximately 30 to 35 hours per week, from Tuesday to Saturday
